PIGS-SPAG5 Fusion FISH Probe
The PIGS-SPAG5 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PIGS and SPAG5 genes. The fusion of the PIGS and SPAG5 genes has been associated with Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma, and Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

SPAG5 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein associated with the mitotic spindle apparatus. The encoded protein may be involved in the functional and dynamic regulation of mitotic spindles. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Sperm Associated Antigen 5
Chromosome: CHR17: 26904582 -26926056
Locus: 17q11.2
PIGS Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that is involved in GPI-anchor biosynthesis. The glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor is a glycolipid found on many blood cells and serves to anchor proteins to the cell surface. This gene encodes an essential component of the multisubunit enzyme, GPI transamidase. GPI transamidase mediates GPI anchoring in the endoplasmic reticulum, by catalyzing the transfer of fully assembled GPI units to proteins. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Phosphatidylinositol Glycan Anchor Biosynthesis Class S
Chromosome: CHR17: 26880405 -26898887
Locus: 17q11.2
