PIGG-SPINK2 Fusion FISH Probe
The PIGG-SPINK2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PIGG and SPINK2 genes. The fusion of the PIGG and SPINK2 genes has been associated with Glioblastoma Multiforme. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

SPINK2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the family of serine protease inhibitors of the Kazal type (SPINK). The encoded protein acts as a trypsin and acrosin inhibitor in the genital tract and is localized in the spermatozoa. The protein has been associated with the progression of lymphomas. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2012]
Gene Name: Serine Peptidase Inhibitor, Kazal Type 2
Chromosome: CHR4: 57676033 -57687893
Locus: 4q12
PIGG Gene Summary
This gene encodes an enzyme involved in glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchor biosynthesis. The encoded protein, which is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum, is involved in transferring ethanoloamine phosphate to mannose 2 of glycosylphosphatidylinositol species H7 to form species H8. Allelic variants of this gene have been associated with intellectual disability, hypotonia, and early-onset seizures. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2016]
Gene Name: Phosphatidylinositol Glycan Anchor Biosynthesis Class G
Chromosome: CHR4: 492988 -533320
Locus: 4p16.3
