PHIP-FTO Fusion FISH Probe

The PHIP-FTO Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PHIP and FTO genes. The fusion of the PHIP and FTO genes has been associated with Lung Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use.

Turnaround Time: 7-10 Business Days    Shipping Time: 1-2 Day Expedited Shipping

PHIP Gene Summary

This gene encodes a protein that binds to the insulin receptor substrate 1 protein and regulates glucose transporter translocation in skeletal muscle cells. The encoded protein may also regulate growth and survival of pancreatic beta cells. Elevated copy number of this gene may be associated with melanoma severity and the encoded protein may promote melanoma metastasis in human patients. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2016]

Gene Name: Pleckstrin Homology Domain Interacting Protein

Chromosome: CHR6: 79644135 -79788011

Locus: 6q14.1

FTO Gene Summary

This gene is a nuclear protein of the AlkB related non-haem iron and 2-oxoglutarate-dependent oxygenase superfamily but the exact physiological function of this gene is not known. Other non-heme iron enzymes function to reverse alkylated DNA and RNA damage by oxidative demethylation. Studies in mice and humans indicate a role in nervous and cardiovascular systems and a strong association with body mass index, obesity risk, and type 2 diabetes. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011]

Gene Name: FTO, Alpha-ketoglutarate Dependent Dioxygenase

Chromosome: CHR16: 53737874 -54148379

Locus: 16q12.2
