PEX14-HMOX2 Fusion FISH Probe
The PEX14-HMOX2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PEX14 and HMOX2 genes. The fusion of the PEX14 and HMOX2 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

HMOX2 Gene Summary
Heme oxygenase, an essential enzyme in heme catabolism, cleaves heme to form biliverdin, which is subsequently converted to bilirubin by biliverdin reductase, and carbon monoxide, a putative neurotransmitter. Heme oxygenase activity is induced by its substrate heme and by various nonheme substances. Heme oxygenase occurs as 2 isozymes, an inducible heme oxygenase-1 and a constitutive heme oxygenase-2. HMOX1 and HMOX2 belong to the heme oxygenase family. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding three different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2013]
Gene Name: Heme Oxygenase 2
Chromosome: CHR16: 4524718 -4560348
Locus: 16p13.3
PEX14 Gene Summary
This gene encodes an essential component of the peroxisomal import machinery. The protein is integrated into peroxisome membranes with its C-terminus exposed to the cytosol, and interacts with the cytosolic receptor for proteins containing a PTS1 peroxisomal targeting signal. The protein also functions as a transcriptional corepressor and interacts with a histone deacetylase. A mutation in this gene results in one form of Zellweger syndrome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Peroxisomal Biogenesis Factor 14
Chromosome: CHR1: 10535002 -10690815
Locus: 1p36.22
