PEMT-TOP3A Fusion FISH Probe
The PEMT-TOP3A Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PEMT and TOP3A genes. The fusion of the PEMT and TOP3A genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

TOP3A Gene Summary
This gene encodes a DNA topoisomerase, an enzyme that controls and alters the topologic states of DNA during transcription. This enzyme catalyzes the transient breaking and rejoining of a single strand of DNA which allows the strands to pass through one another, thus reducing the number of supercoils and altering the topology of DNA. This enzyme forms a complex with BLM which functions in the regulation of recombination in somatic cells. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]
Gene Name: DNA Topoisomerase III Alpha
Chromosome: CHR17: 18177234 -18218321
Locus: 17p11.2
PEMT Gene Summary
Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is the most abundant mammalian phospholipid. This gene encodes an enzyme which converts phosphatidylethanolamine to phosphatidylcholine by sequential methylation in the liver. Another distinct synthetic pathway in nucleated cells converts intracellular choline to phosphatidylcholine by a three-step process. The protein isoforms encoded by this gene localize to the endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria-associated membranes. Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]
Gene Name: Phosphatidylethanolamine N-methyltransferase
Chromosome: CHR17: 17408876 -17494994
Locus: 17p11.2
