PEMT-NEU3 Fusion FISH Probe
The PEMT-NEU3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PEMT and NEU3 genes. The fusion of the PEMT and NEU3 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

PEMT Gene Summary
Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is the most abundant mammalian phospholipid. This gene encodes an enzyme which converts phosphatidylethanolamine to phosphatidylcholine by sequential methylation in the liver. Another distinct synthetic pathway in nucleated cells converts intracellular choline to phosphatidylcholine by a three-step process. The protein isoforms encoded by this gene localize to the endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria-associated membranes. Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]
Gene Name: Phosphatidylethanolamine N-methyltransferase
Chromosome: CHR17: 17408876 -17494994
Locus: 17p11.2
NEU3 Gene Summary
This gene product belongs to a family of glycohydrolytic enzymes which remove sialic acid residues from glycoproteins and glycolipids. It is localized in the plasma membrane, and its activity is specific for gangliosides. It may play a role in modulating the ganglioside content of the lipid bilayer. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Neuraminidase 3
Chromosome: CHR11: 74699949 -74718743
Locus: 11q13.4
