PC-DCDC2 Fusion FISH Probe
The PC-DCDC2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PC and DCDC2 genes. The fusion of the PC and DCDC2 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

PC Gene Summary
This gene encodes pyruvate carboxylase, which requires biotin and ATP to catalyse the carboxylation of pyruvate to oxaloacetate. The active enzyme is a homotetramer arranged in a tetrahedron which is located exclusively in the mitochondrial matrix. Pyruvate carboxylase is involved in gluconeogenesis, lipogenesis, insulin secretion and synthesis of the neurotransmitter glutamate. Mutations in this gene have been associated with pyruvate carboxylase deficiency. Alternatively spliced transcript variants with different 5' UTRs, but encoding the same protein, have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Pyruvate Carboxylase
Chromosome: CHR11: 66615996 -66725847
Locus: 11q13.2
DCDC2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a doublecortin domain-containing family member. The doublecortin domain has been demonstrated to bind tubulin and enhance microtubule polymerization. This family member is thought to function in neuronal migration where it may affect the signaling of primary cilia. Mutations in this gene have been associated with reading disability (RD) type 2, also referred to as developmental dyslexia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2013]
Gene Name: Doublecortin Domain Containing 2
Chromosome: CHR6: 24171982 -24383520
Locus: 6p22.3
