PAPSS2-MINPP1 Fusion FISH Probe

The PAPSS2-MINPP1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PAPSS2 and MINPP1 genes. The fusion of the PAPSS2 and MINPP1 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma, and Adrenocortical Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

PAPSS2 Gene Summary

Sulfation is a common modification of endogenous (lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates) and exogenous (xenobiotics and drugs) compounds. In mammals, the sulfate source is 3'-phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate (PAPS), created from ATP and inorganic sulfate. Two different tissue isoforms encoded by different genes synthesize PAPS. This gene encodes one of the two PAPS synthetases. Defects in this gene cause the Pakistani type of spondyloepimetaphyseal dysplasia. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: 3'-phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate Synthase 2

Chromosome: CHR10: 89419475 -89507462

Locus: 10q23.2-q23.31

MINPP1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes multiple inositol polyphosphate phosphatase; an enzyme that removes 3-phosphate from inositol phosphate substrates. It is the only enzyme known to hydrolzye inositol pentakisphosphate and inositol hexakisphosphate. This enzyme also converts 2,3 bisphosphoglycerate (2,3-BPG) to 2-phosphoglycerate; an activity formerly thought to be exclusive to 2,3-BPG synthase/2-phosphatase (BPGM) in the Rapoport-Luebering shunt of the glycolytic pathway.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Gene Name: Multiple Inositol-polyphosphate Phosphatase 1

Chromosome: CHR10: 89264222 -89313218

Locus: 10q23.2

Gene Diseases
