OSBP-GAL Fusion FISH Probe
The OSBP-GAL Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the OSBP and GAL genes. The fusion of the OSBP and GAL genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

OSBP Gene Summary
Oxysterol binding protein is an intracellular protein that is believed to transport sterols from lysosomes to the nucleus where the sterol down-regulates the genes for the LDL receptor, HMG-CoA reductase, and HMG synthetase [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Oxysterol Binding Protein
Chromosome: CHR11: 59341870 -59383617
Locus: 11q12.1
GAL Gene Summary
This gene encodes a neuroendocrine peptide that is widely expressed in the central and peripheral nervous systems and also the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, adrenal gland and urogenital tract. The encoded protein is a precursor that is proteolytically processed to generate two mature peptides: galanin and galanin message-associated peptide (GMAP). Galanin has diverse physiological functions including nociception, feeding and energy homeostasis, osmotic regulation and water balance. GMAP has been demonstrated to possess antifungal activity and hypothesized to be part of the innate immune system. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2015]
Gene Name: Galanin And GMAP Prepropeptide
Chromosome: CHR11: 68451982 -68458643
Locus: 11q13.2
