NUMA1-UBA2 Fusion FISH Probe
The NUMA1-UBA2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the NUMA1 and UBA2 genes. The fusion of the NUMA1 and UBA2 genes has been associated with Brain Lower Grade Glioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

NUMA1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a large protein that forms a structural component of the nuclear matrix. The encoded protein interacts with microtubules and plays a role in the formation and organization of the mitotic spindle during cell division. Chromosomal translocation of this gene with the RARA (retinoic acid receptor, alpha) gene on chromosome 17 have been detected in patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2013]
Gene Name: Nuclear Mitotic Apparatus Protein 1
Chromosome: CHR11: 71713910 -71791573
Locus: 11q13.4
UBA2 Gene Summary
Posttranslational modification of proteins by the addition of the small protein SUMO (see SUMO1; MIM 601912), or sumoylation, regulates protein structure and intracellular localization. SAE1 (MIM 613294) and UBA2 form a heterodimer that functions as a SUMO-activating enzyme for the sumoylation of proteins (Okuma et al., 1999 [PubMed 9920803]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2010]
Gene Name: Ubiquitin Like Modifier Activating Enzyme 2
Chromosome: CHR19: 34919267 -34960798
Locus: 19q13.11
