NPAS3-AKAP6 Fusion FISH Probe
The NPAS3-AKAP6 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the NPAS3 and AKAP6 genes. The fusion of the NPAS3 and AKAP6 genes has been associated with Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma, and Lung Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

AKAP6 Gene Summary
The A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are a group of structurally diverse proteins, which have the common function of binding to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA) and confining the holoenzyme to discrete locations within the cell. This gene encodes a member of the AKAP family. The encoded protein is highly expressed in various brain regions and cardiac and skeletal muscle. It is specifically localized to the sarcoplasmic reticulum and nuclear membrane, and is involved in anchoring PKA to the nuclear membrane or sarcoplasmic reticulum. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: A-kinase Anchoring Protein 6
Chromosome: CHR14: 32798478 -33302268
Locus: 14q12
NPAS3 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the basic helix-loop-helix and PAS domain-containing family of transcription factors. The encoded protein is localized to the nucleus and may regulate genes involved in neurogenesis. Chromosomal abnormalities that affect the coding potential of this gene are associated with schizophrenia and cognitive disability. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
Gene Name: Neuronal PAS Domain Protein 3
Chromosome: CHR14: 33408458 -34273382
Locus: 14q13.1
