NEK4-SETD2 Fusion FISH Probe
The NEK4-SETD2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the NEK4 and SETD2 genes. The fusion of the NEK4 and SETD2 genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

NEK4 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a serine/threonine protein kinase required for normal entry into replicative senescence. The encoded protein also is involved in cell cycle arrest in response to double-stranded DNA damage. Finally, this protein plays a role in maintaining cilium integrity, and defects in this gene have been associated with ciliopathies. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2017]
Gene Name: NIMA Related Kinase 4
Chromosome: CHR3: 52744795 -52804965
Locus: 3p21.1
SETD2 Gene Summary
Huntington's disease (HD), a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by loss of striatal neurons, is caused by an expansion of a polyglutamine tract in the HD protein huntingtin. This gene encodes a protein belonging to a class of huntingtin interacting proteins characterized by WW motifs. This protein is a histone methyltransferase that is specific for lysine-36 of histone H3, and methylation of this residue is associated with active chromatin. This protein also contains a novel transcriptional activation domain and has been found associated with hyperphosphorylated RNA polymerase II. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2008]
