NCOR2-S100A4 Fusion FISH Probe
The NCOR2-S100A4 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the NCOR2 and S100A4 genes. The fusion of the NCOR2 and S100A4 genes has been associated with Skin Cutaneous Melanoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

S100A4 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100 genes include at least 13 members which are located as a cluster on chromosome 1q21. This protein may function in motility, invasion, and tubulin polymerization. Chromosomal rearrangements and altered expression of this gene have been implicated in tumor metastasis. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified. Gene Name: S100 Calcium Binding Protein A4
Chromosome: CHR1: 153516094 -153518282
Locus: 1q21.3
NCOR2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a nuclear receptor co-repressor that mediates transcriptional silencing of certain target genes. The encoded protein is a member of a family of thyroid hormone- and retinoic acid receptor-associated co-repressors. This protein acts as part of a multisubunit complex which includes histone deacetylases to modify chromatin structure that prevents basal transcriptional activity of target genes. Aberrant expression of this gene is associated with certain cancers. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2011]
Gene Name: Nuclear Receptor Corepressor 2
Chromosome: CHR12: 124808956 -125052010
Locus: 12q24.31
