NCOA6-GSS Fusion FISH Probe
The NCOA6-GSS Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the NCOA6 and GSS genes. The fusion of the NCOA6 and GSS genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma, and Adrenocortical Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

GSS Gene Summary
Glutathione is important for a variety of biological functions, including protection of cells from oxidative damage by free radicals, detoxification of xenobiotics, and membrane transport. The protein encoded by this gene functions as a homodimer to catalyze the second step of glutathione biosynthesis, which is the ATP-dependent conversion of gamma-L-glutamyl-L-cysteine to glutathione. Defects in this gene are a cause of glutathione synthetase deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Glutathione Synthetase
Chromosome: CHR20: 33516235 -33543601
Locus: 20q11.22
NCOA6 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a transcriptional coactivator that can interact with nuclear hormone receptors to enhance their transcriptional activator functions. This protein has been shown to be involved in the hormone-dependent coactivation of several receptors, including prostanoid, retinoid, vitamin D3, thyroid hormone, and steroid receptors. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]
Gene Name: Nuclear Receptor Coactivator 6
Chromosome: CHR20: 33302577 -33413433
Locus: 20q11.22
