MTF1-SF3A3 Fusion FISH Probe
The MTF1-SF3A3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MTF1 and SF3A3 genes. The fusion of the MTF1 and SF3A3 genes has been associated with Glioblastoma Multiforme. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

MTF1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a transcription factor that induces expression of metallothioneins and other genes involved in metal homeostasis in response to heavy metals such as cadmium, zinc, copper, and silver. The protein is a nucleocytoplasmic shuttling protein that accumulates in the nucleus upon heavy metal exposure and binds to promoters containing a metal-responsive element (MRE). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Metal Regulatory Transcription Factor 1
Chromosome: CHR1: 38275238 -38325292
Locus: 1p34.3
SF3A3 Gene Summary
This gene encodes subunit 3 of the splicing factor 3a protein complex. The splicing factor 3a heterotrimer includes subunits 1, 2 and 3 and is necessary for the in vitro conversion of 15S U2 snRNP into an active 17S particle that performs pre-mRNA splicing. Subunit 3 interacts with subunit 1 through its amino-terminus while the zinc finger domain of subunit 3 plays a role in its binding to the 15S U2 snRNP. This gene has a pseudogene on chromosome 20. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]
Gene Name: Splicing Factor 3a Subunit 3
Chromosome: CHR1: 38422651 -38455761
Locus: 1p34.3
