MRPL11-ST8SIA1 Fusion FISH Probe
The MRPL11-ST8SIA1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MRPL11 and ST8SIA1 genes. The fusion of the MRPL11 and ST8SIA1 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

ST8SIA1 Gene Summary
Gangliosides are membrane-bound glycosphingolipids containing sialic acid. Ganglioside GD3 is known to be important for cell adhesion and growth of cultured malignant cells. The protein encoded by this gene is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to GM3 to produce gangliosides GD3 and GT3. The encoded protein may be found in the Golgi apparatus and is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015]
Gene Name: ST8 Alpha-N-acetyl-neuraminide Alpha-2,8-sialyltransferase 1
Chromosome: CHR12: 22346324 -22487648
Locus: 12p12.1
MRPL11 Gene Summary
This nuclear gene encodes a 39S subunit component of the mitochondial ribosome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Pseudogenes for this gene are found on chromosomes 5 and 12. [provided by RefSeq, May 2014]
Gene Name: Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein L11
Chromosome: CHR11: 66202549 -66206310
Locus: 11q13.2
