MPP5-GPHN Fusion FISH Probe
The MPP5-GPHN Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MPP5 and GPHN genes. The fusion of the MPP5 and GPHN genes has been associated with Lung Adenocarcinoma, Lung Adenocarcinoma, Breast Invasive Carcinoma, Colon Adenocarcinoma, Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma, Rectum Adenocarcinoma, Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma, Lung Adenocarcinoma, Esophageal Carcinoma, and Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

GPHN Gene Summary
This gene encodes a neuronal assembly protein that anchors inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors to the postsynaptic cytoskeleton via high affinity binding to a receptor subunit domain and tubulin dimers. In nonneuronal tissues, the encoded protein is also required for molybdenum cofactor biosynthesis. Mutations in this gene may be associated with the neurological condition hyperplexia and also lead to molybdenum cofactor deficiency. Numerous alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described; however, the full-length nature of all transcript variants is not currently known. Gene Name: Gephyrin
Chromosome: CHR14: 66974124 -67648525
Locus: 14q23.3-q24.1
MPP5 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the p55-like subfamily of the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) gene superfamily. The encoded protein participates in the polarization of differentiating cells, has been shown to regulate myelinating Schwann cells (PMID: 20237282), and is one of the components of the Crumbs complex in the retina. Mice which express lower levels of the orthologous protein have retinal degeneration and impaired vision (PMID: 22114289). Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]
