MPDZ-PLIN2 Fusion FISH Probe
The MPDZ-PLIN2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MPDZ and PLIN2 genes. The fusion of the MPDZ and PLIN2 genes has been associated with Brain Lower Grade Glioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

PLIN2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the perilipin family, members of which coat intracellular lipid storage droplets. This protein is associated with the lipid globule surface membrane material, and maybe involved in development and maintenance of adipose tissue. However, it is not restricted to adipocytes as previously thought, but is found in a wide range of cultured cell lines, including fibroblasts, endothelial and epithelial cells, and tissues, such as lactating mammary gland, adrenal cortex, Sertoli and Leydig cells, and hepatocytes in alcoholic liver cirrhosis, suggesting that it may serve as a marker of lipid accumulation in diverse cell types and diseases. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]
Gene Name: Perilipin 2
Chromosome: CHR9: 19115758 -19127604
Locus: 9p22.1
MPDZ Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene has multiple PDZ domains, which are hallmarks of protein-protein interactions. The encoded protein is known to interact with the HTR2C receptor and may cause it to clump at the cell surface. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2015]
