MIPEP-MYO16 Fusion FISH Probe
The MIPEP-MYO16 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MIPEP and MYO16 genes. The fusion of the MIPEP and MYO16 genes has been associated with Colon Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

MIPEP Gene Summary
The product of this gene performs the final step in processing a specific class of nuclear-encoded proteins targeted to the mitochondrial matrix or inner membrane. This protein is primarily involved in the maturation of oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS)-related proteins. This gene may contribute to the functional effects of frataxin deficiency and the clinical manifestations of Friedreich ataxia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Mitochondrial Intermediate Peptidase
Chromosome: CHR13: 24304327 -24463587
Locus: 13q12.12
MYO16 Gene Summary
This gene encodes an unconventional myosin protein. The encoded protein has been proposed to act as a serine/threonine phosphatase-1 targeting or regulatory subunit. Studies in a rat cell line suggest that this protein may regulate cell cycle progression. A variant within this gene may be associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia and elevated expression of this gene has been observed in the frontal cortex of human schizophrenia patients. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2017]
Gene Name: Myosin XVI
Chromosome: CHR13: 109248499 -109860355
Locus: 13q33.3
