MDM2-SLAMF9 Fusion FISH Probe
The MDM2-SLAMF9 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MDM2 and SLAMF9 genes. The fusion of the MDM2 and SLAMF9 genes has been associated with Sarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

MDM2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a nuclear-localized E3 ubiquitin ligase. The encoded protein can promote tumor formation by targeting tumor suppressor proteins, such as p53, for proteasomal degradation. This gene is itself transcriptionally-regulated by p53. Overexpression or amplification of this locus is detected in a variety of different cancers. There is a pseudogene for this gene on chromosome 2. Alternative splicing results in a multitude of transcript variants, many of which may be expressed only in tumor cells. Gene Name: MDM2 Proto-oncogene
Chromosome: CHR12: 69201970 -69239212
Locus: 12q15
SLAMF9 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the signaling lymphocytic activation molecule family. The encoded protein is a cell surface molecule that consists of two extracellular immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain and a short cytoplasmic tail that lacks the signal transduction motifs found in other family members. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2009]
Gene Name: SLAM Family Member 9
Chromosome: CHR1: 159921281 -159924044
