MDGA1-PTK7 Fusion FISH Probe
The MDGA1-PTK7 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MDGA1 and PTK7 genes. The fusion of the MDGA1 and PTK7 genes has been associated with Glioblastoma Multiforme. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

PTK7 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the receptor protein tyrosine kinase family of proteins that transduce extracellular signals across the cell membrane. The encoded protein lacks detectable catalytic tyrosine kinase activity, is involved in the Wnt signaling pathway and plays a role in multiple cellular processes including polarity and adhesion. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2012]
Gene Name: Protein Tyrosine Kinase 7 (inactive)
Chromosome: CHR6: 43044028 -43129457
Locus: 6p21.1
MDGA1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface glycoprotein that is expressed predominantly in the developing nervous system. In addition to possessing several cell adhesion molecule-like domains, the mature protein has six Ig-like domains, a single fibronectin type III domain, a MAM domain and a C-terminal GPI-anchoring site. Studies in other mammals suggest this protein plays a role in cell adhesion, migration, and axon guidance and, in the developing brain, neuronal migration. In humans, this gene is associated with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2016]
Gene Name: MAM Domain Containing Glycosylphosphatidylinositol Anchor 1
Chromosome: CHR6: 37600283 -37665766
Locus: 6p21.2
