MCM5-TOM1 Fusion FISH Probe
The MCM5-TOM1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MCM5 and TOM1 genes. The fusion of the MCM5 and TOM1 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

MCM5 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is structurally very similar to the CDC46 protein from S. cerevisiae, a protein involved in the initiation of DNA replication. The encoded protein is a member of the MCM family of chromatin-binding proteins and can interact with at least two other members of this family. The encoded protein is upregulated in the transition from the G0 to G1/S phase of the cell cycle and may actively participate in cell cycle regulation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Minichromosome Maintenance Complex Component 5
Chromosome: CHR22: 35796115 -35820495
Locus: 22q12.3
TOM1 Gene Summary
This gene was identified as a target of the v-myb oncogene. The encoded protein shares its N-terminal domain in common with proteins associated with vesicular trafficking at the endosome. It is recruited to the endosomes by its interaction with endofin. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
