MCAT-GTSE1 Fusion FISH Probe
The MCAT-GTSE1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MCAT and GTSE1 genes. The fusion of the MCAT and GTSE1 genes has been associated with Skin Cutaneous Melanoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

MCAT Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is found exclusively in the mitochondrion, where it catalyzes the transfer of a malonyl group from malonyl-CoA to the mitochondrial acyl carrier protein. The encoded protein may be part of a fatty acid synthase complex that is more like the type II prokaryotic and plastid complexes rather than the type I human cytosolic complex. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2012]
Gene Name: Malonyl-CoA-acyl Carrier Protein Transacylase
Chromosome: CHR22: 43528211 -43539403
Locus: 22q13.2
GTSE1 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is only expressed in the S and G2 phases of the cell cycle, where it colocalizes with cytoplasmic tubulin and microtubules. In response to DNA damage, the encoded protein accumulates in the nucleus and binds the tumor suppressor protein p53, shuttling it out of the nucleus and repressing its ability to induce apoptosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: G2 And S-phase Expressed 1
Chromosome: CHR22: 46692637 -46726707
Locus: 22q13.31
