MAST4-ST8SIA4 Fusion FISH Probe
The MAST4-ST8SIA4 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MAST4 and ST8SIA4 genes. The fusion of the MAST4 and ST8SIA4 genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ST8SIA4 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the polycondensation of alpha-2,8-linked sialic acid required for the synthesis of polysialic acid, a modulator of the adhesive properties of neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM1). The encoded protein, which is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29, is a type II membrane protein that may be present in the Golgi apparatus. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: ST8 Alpha-N-acetyl-neuraminide Alpha-2,8-sialyltransferase 4
Chromosome: CHR5: 100142638 -100238987
Locus: 5q21.1
MAST4 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the microtubule-associated serine/threonine protein kinases. The proteins in this family contain a domain that gives the kinase the ability to determine its own scaffold to control the effects of their kinase activities. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014]
Gene Name: Microtubule Associated Serine/threonine Kinase Family Member 4
Chromosome: CHR5: 65892175 -66465423
Locus: 5q12.3
