MAST4-PLIN2 Fusion FISH Probe
The MAST4-PLIN2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MAST4 and PLIN2 genes. The fusion of the MAST4 and PLIN2 genes has been associated with Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

PLIN2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the perilipin family, members of which coat intracellular lipid storage droplets. This protein is associated with the lipid globule surface membrane material, and maybe involved in development and maintenance of adipose tissue. However, it is not restricted to adipocytes as previously thought, but is found in a wide range of cultured cell lines, including fibroblasts, endothelial and epithelial cells, and tissues, such as lactating mammary gland, adrenal cortex, Sertoli and Leydig cells, and hepatocytes in alcoholic liver cirrhosis, suggesting that it may serve as a marker of lipid accumulation in diverse cell types and diseases. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]
Gene Name: Perilipin 2
Chromosome: CHR9: 19115758 -19127604
Locus: 9p22.1
MAST4 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the microtubule-associated serine/threonine protein kinases. The proteins in this family contain a domain that gives the kinase the ability to determine its own scaffold to control the effects of their kinase activities. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014]
Gene Name: Microtubule Associated Serine/threonine Kinase Family Member 4
Chromosome: CHR5: 65892175 -66465423
Locus: 5q12.3
