MAFF-RCOR1 Fusion FISH Probe
The MAFF-RCOR1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the MAFF and RCOR1 genes. The fusion of the MAFF and RCOR1 genes has been associated with Esophageal Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

RCOR1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that is well-conserved, downregulated at birth, and with a specific role in determining neural cell differentiation. The encoded protein binds to the C-terminal domain of REST (repressor element-1 silencing transcription factor). [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Gene Name: REST Corepressor 1
Chromosome: CHR14: 103058995 -103196913
Locus: 14q32.31-q32.32
MAFF Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor that lacks a transactivation domain. It is known to bind the US-2 DNA element in the promoter of the oxytocin receptor (OTR) gene and most likely heterodimerizes with other leucine zipper-containing proteins to enhance expression of the OTR gene during term pregnancy. The encoded protein can also form homodimers, and since it lacks a transactivation domain, the homodimer may act as a repressor of transcription. This gene may also be involved in the cellular stress response. Multiple transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009]
Gene Name: MAF BZIP Transcription Factor F
Chromosome: CHR22: 38597938 -38612517
Locus: 22q13.1
