LYZ-SUPT16H Fusion FISH Probe
The LYZ-SUPT16H Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the LYZ and SUPT16H genes. The fusion of the LYZ and SUPT16H genes has been associated with Lung Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

LYZ Gene Summary
This gene encodes human lysozyme, whose natural substrate is the bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan (cleaving the beta[1-4]glycosidic linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine). Lysozyme is one of the antimicrobial agents found in human milk, and is also present in spleen, lung, kidney, white blood cells, plasma, saliva, and tears. The protein has antibacterial activity against a number of bacterial species. Missense mutations in this gene have been identified in heritable renal amyloidosis. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]
Gene Name: Lysozyme
Chromosome: CHR12: 69742133 -69748013
Locus: 12q15
SUPT16H Gene Summary
Transcription of protein-coding genes can be reconstituted on naked DNA with only the general transcription factors and RNA polymerase II. However, this minimal system cannot transcribe DNA packaged into chromatin, indicating that accessory factors may facilitate access to DNA. One such factor, FACT (facilitates chromatin transcription), interacts specifically with histones H2A/H2B to effect nucleosome disassembly and transcription elongation. FACT is composed of an 80 kDa subunit and a 140 kDa subunit; this gene encodes the 140 kDa subunit. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]
Gene Name: SPT16 Homolog, Facilitates Chromatin Remodeling Subunit
Chromosome: CHR14: 21819630 -21852425
Locus: 14q11.2
