LRAT-VTI1A Fusion FISH Probe
The LRAT-VTI1A Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the LRAT and VTI1A genes. The fusion of the LRAT and VTI1A genes has been associated with Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

LRAT Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum, where it catalyzes the esterification of all-trans-retinol into all-trans-retinyl ester. This reaction is an important step in vitamin A metabolism in the visual system. Mutations in this gene have been associated with early-onset severe retinal dystrophy and Leber congenital amaurosis 14. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Gene Name: Lecithin Retinol Acyltransferase
Chromosome: CHR4: 155665162 -155674270
Locus: 4q32.1
VTI1A Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the family of soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive fusion protein-attachment protein receptors (SNAREs) that function in intracellular trafficking. This family member is involved in vesicular transport between endosomes and the trans-Golgi network. It is a vesicle-associated SNARE (v-SNARE) that interacts with target membrane SNAREs (t-SNAREs). Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with binocular function, and also with susceptibility to colorectal and lung cancers. A recurrent rearrangement has been found between this gene and the transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) gene in colorectal cancers. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]
Gene Name: Vesicle Transport Through Interaction With T-SNAREs 1A
Chromosome: CHR10: 114206755 -114578504
Locus: 10q25.2
