KIF21A-TMTC2 Fusion FISH Probe
The KIF21A-TMTC2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the KIF21A and TMTC2 genes. The fusion of the KIF21A and TMTC2 genes has been associated with Lung Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

KIF21A Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the KIF4 subfamily of kinesin-like motor proteins. The encoded protein is characterized by an N-terminal motor domain a coiled-coil stalk domain and a C-terminal WD-40 repeat domain. This protein may be involved in microtubule dependent transport. Mutations in this gene are the cause of congenital fibrosis of extraocular muscles-1. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]
Gene Name: Kinesin Family Member 21A
Chromosome: CHR12: 39687029 -39837192
Locus: 12q12
TMTC2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is an integral membrane protein localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). The encoded protein contains many tetratricopeptide repeats, sequences known for being involved in protein-protein interactions. This protein binds both the calcium uptake pump SERCA2B and the carbohydrate-binding chaperone calnexin, and it appears to play a role in calcium homeostasis in the ER. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]
