KIF1B-RERE Fusion FISH Probe
The KIF1B-RERE Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the KIF1B and RERE genes. The fusion of the KIF1B and RERE genes has been associated with Colon Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

RERE Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the atrophin family of arginine-glutamic acid (RE) dipeptide repeat-containing proteins. The encoded protein co-localizes with a transcription factor in the nucleus, and its overexpression triggers apoptosis. A similar protein in mouse associates with histone deacetylase and is thought to function as a transcriptional co-repressor during embryonic development. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Arginine-glutamic Acid Dipeptide Repeats
Chromosome: CHR1: 8412463 -8877699
Locus: 1p36.23
KIF1B Gene Summary
This gene encodes a motor protein that transports mitochondria and synaptic vesicle precursors. Mutations in this gene cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, type 2A1. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Kinesin Family Member 1B
Chromosome: CHR1: 10270763 -10441661
Locus: 1p36.22
