KIF13A-UBE2K Fusion FISH Probe
The KIF13A-UBE2K Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the KIF13A and UBE2K genes. The fusion of the KIF13A and UBE2K genes has been associated with Sarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

UBE2K Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. This protein interacts with RING finger proteins, and it can ubiquitinate huntingtin, the gene product for Huntington's disease. Known functions for this protein include a role in aggregate formation of expanded polyglutamine proteins and the suppression of apoptosis in polyglutamine diseases, a role in the dislocation of newly synthesized MHC class I heavy chains from the endoplasmic reticulum, and involvement in foam cell formation. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Ubiquitin Conjugating Enzyme E2 K
Chromosome: CHR4: 39699663 -39784410
Locus: 4p14
KIF13A Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the kinesin family of microtubule-based motor proteins that function in the positioning of endosomes. This family member can direct mannose-6-phosphate receptor-containing vesicles from the trans-Golgi network to the plasma membrane, and it is necessary for the steady-state distribution of late endosomes/lysosomes. It is also required for the translocation of FYVE-CENT and TTC19 from the centrosome to the midbody during cytokinesis, and it plays a role in melanosome maturation. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Gene Name: Kinesin Family Member 13A
Chromosome: CHR6: 17759413 -17987854
Locus: 6p22.3
