KCNMA1-RFX2 Fusion FISH Probe
The KCNMA1-RFX2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the KCNMA1 and RFX2 genes. The fusion of the KCNMA1 and RFX2 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

KCNMA1 Gene Summary
MaxiK channels are large conductance, voltage and calcium-sensitive potassium channels which are fundamental to the control of smooth muscle tone and neuronal excitability. MaxiK channels can be formed by 2 subunits: the pore-forming alpha subunit, which is the product of this gene, and the modulatory beta subunit. Intracellular calcium regulates the physical association between the alpha and beta subunits. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. Gene Name: Potassium Calcium-activated Channel Subfamily M Alpha 1
Chromosome: CHR10: 78629358 -79397577
Locus: 10q22.3
RFX2 Gene Summary
This gene is a member of the regulatory factor X gene family, which encodes transcription factors that contain a highly-conserved winged helix DNA binding domain. The protein encoded by this gene is structurally related to regulatory factors X1, X3, X4, and X5. It is a transcriptional activator that can bind DNA as a monomer or as a heterodimer with other RFX family members. This protein can bind to cis elements in the promoter of the IL-5 receptor alpha gene. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene, and both variants utilize alternative polyadenylation sites. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Regulatory Factor X2
Chromosome: CHR19: 5993174 -6110664
Locus: 19p13.3
