KCNMA1-FARP1 Fusion FISH Probe
The KCNMA1-FARP1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the KCNMA1 and FARP1 genes. The fusion of the KCNMA1 and FARP1 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

KCNMA1 Gene Summary
MaxiK channels are large conductance, voltage and calcium-sensitive potassium channels which are fundamental to the control of smooth muscle tone and neuronal excitability. MaxiK channels can be formed by 2 subunits: the pore-forming alpha subunit, which is the product of this gene, and the modulatory beta subunit. Intracellular calcium regulates the physical association between the alpha and beta subunits. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. Gene Name: Potassium Calcium-activated Channel Subfamily M Alpha 1
Chromosome: CHR10: 78629358 -79397577
Locus: 10q22.3
FARP1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein containing a FERM (4.2, exrin, radixin, moesin) domain, a Dbl homology domain, and two pleckstrin homology domains. These domains are found in guanine nucleotide exchange factors and proteins that link the cytoskeleton to the cell membrane. The encoded protein functions in neurons to promote dendritic growth. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2013]
Gene Name: FERM, ARH/RhoGEF And Pleckstrin Domain Protein 1
