KCNB1-ZFPM2 Fusion FISH Probe
The KCNB1-ZFPM2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the KCNB1 and ZFPM2 genes. The fusion of the KCNB1 and ZFPM2 genes has been associated with Brain Lower Grade Glioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

KCNB1 Gene Summary
Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. Four sequence-related potassium channel genes - shaker, shaw, shab, and shal - have been identified in Drosophila, and each has been shown to have human homolog(s). This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, shab-related subfamily. This member is a delayed rectifier potassium channel and its activity is modulated by some other family members. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Potassium Voltage-gated Channel Subfamily B Member 1
Chromosome: CHR20: 47988504 -48099181
Locus: 20q13.13
ZFPM2 Gene Summary
The zinc finger protein encoded by this gene is a widely expressed member of the FOG family of transcription factors. The family members modulate the activity of GATA family proteins, which are important regulators of hematopoiesis and cardiogenesis in mammals. It has been demonstrated that the protein can both activate and down-regulate expression of GATA-target genes, suggesting different modulation in different promoter contexts. A related mRNA suggests an alternatively spliced product but this information is not yet fully supported by the sequence. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Zinc Finger Protein, FOG Family Member 2
Chromosome: CHR8: 106331146 -106816767
Locus: 8q23.1
