ITM2B-MATR3 Fusion FISH Probe
The ITM2B-MATR3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ITM2B and MATR3 genes. The fusion of the ITM2B and MATR3 genes has been associated with Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

ITM2B Gene Summary
Amyloid precursor proteins are processed by beta-secretase and gamma-secretase to produce beta-amyloid peptides which form the characteristic plaques of Alzheimer disease. This gene encodes a transmembrane protein which is processed at the C-terminus by furin or furin-like proteases to produce a small secreted peptide which inhibits the deposition of beta-amyloid. Mutations which result in extension of the C-terminal end of the encoded protein, thereby increasing the size of the secreted peptide, are associated with two neurogenerative diseases, familial British dementia and familial Danish dementia. Gene Name: Integral Membrane Protein 2B
Chromosome: CHR13: 48807273 -48836232
Locus: 13q14.2
MATR3 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a nuclear matrix protein, which is proposed to stabilize certain messenger RNA species. Mutations of this gene are associated with distal myopathy 2, which often includes vocal cord and pharyngeal weakness. Alternatively spliced transcript variants, including read-through transcripts composed of the upstream small nucleolar RNA host gene 4 (non-protein coding) and matrin 3 gene sequence, have been identified. Pseudogenes of this gene are located on chromosomes 1 and X. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]
Gene Name: Matrin 3
Chromosome: CHR5: 138609440 -138667366
Locus: 5q31.2
