ITGB6-RBMS1 Fusion FISH Probe
The ITGB6-RBMS1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ITGB6 and RBMS1 genes. The fusion of the ITGB6 and RBMS1 genes has been associated with Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma, Head And Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma , Breast Invasive Carcinoma, Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma, and Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ITGB6 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the integrin superfamily. Members of this family are adhesion receptors that function in signaling from the extracellular matrix to the cell. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. The encoded protein forms a dimer with an alpha v chain and this heterodimer can bind to ligands like fibronectin and transforming growth factor beta 1. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2013]
Gene Name: Integrin Subunit Beta 6
Chromosome: CHR2: 160958232 -161056590
Locus: 2q24.2
RBMS1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of a small family of proteins which bind single stranded DNA/RNA. These proteins are characterized by the presence of two sets of ribonucleoprotein consensus sequence (RNP-CS) that contain conserved motifs, RNP1 and RNP2, originally described in RNA binding proteins, and required for DNA binding. These proteins have been implicated in such diverse functions as DNA replication, gene transcription, cell cycle progression and apoptosis. Several transcript variants, resulting from alternative splicing and encoding different isoforms, have been described. A pseudogene for this locus is found on chromosome 12. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]
