ITGA9-HMOX2 Fusion FISH Probe
The ITGA9-HMOX2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ITGA9 and HMOX2 genes. The fusion of the ITGA9 and HMOX2 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

HMOX2 Gene Summary
Heme oxygenase, an essential enzyme in heme catabolism, cleaves heme to form biliverdin, which is subsequently converted to bilirubin by biliverdin reductase, and carbon monoxide, a putative neurotransmitter. Heme oxygenase activity is induced by its substrate heme and by various nonheme substances. Heme oxygenase occurs as 2 isozymes, an inducible heme oxygenase-1 and a constitutive heme oxygenase-2. HMOX1 and HMOX2 belong to the heme oxygenase family. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding three different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2013]
Gene Name: Heme Oxygenase 2
Chromosome: CHR16: 4524718 -4560348
Locus: 16p13.3
ITGA9 Gene Summary
This gene encodes an alpha integrin. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane glycoproteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain that mediate cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion. The protein encoded by this gene, when bound to the beta 1 chain, forms an integrin that is a receptor for VCAM1, cytotactin and osteopontin. Expression of this gene has been found to be upregulated in small cell lung cancers. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Integrin Subunit Alpha 9
Chromosome: CHR3: 37493812 -37861281
Locus: 3p22.2
