IRX1-ADAMTS16 Fusion FISH Probe

The IRX1-ADAMTS16 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the IRX1 and ADAMTS16 genes. The fusion of the IRX1 and ADAMTS16 genes has been associated with Skin Cutaneous Melanoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

IRX1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the Iroquois homeobox protein family. Homeobox genes in this family are involved in pattern formation in the embryo. The gene product has been identified as a tumor suppressor in gastric (PMID: 21602894, 20440264) and head and neck cancers (PMID: 18559491). A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 13. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]

Gene Name: Iroquois Homeobox 1

Chromosome: CHR5: 3596167 -3601517

Locus: 5p15.33

ADAMTS16 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs) protein family. ADAMTS family members share several distinct protein modules, including a propeptide region, a metalloproteinase domain, a disintegrin-like domain, and a thrombospondin type 1 (TS) motif. Individual members of this family differ in the number of C-terminal TS motifs, and some have unique C-terminal domains. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protein, which may inhibit chondrosarcoma cell proliferation and migration. This gene may regulate blood pressure. [provided by RefSeq, May 2016]

Gene Name: ADAM Metallopeptidase With Thrombospondin Type 1 Motif 16

Chromosome: CHR5: 5140442 -5320412

Locus: 5p15.32
