IPO8-KRT86 Fusion FISH Probe
The IPO8-KRT86 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the IPO8 and KRT86 genes. The fusion of the IPO8 and KRT86 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

KRT86 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a type II keratin protein, which heterodimerizes with type I keratins to form hair and nails. This gene is present in a cluster of related genes and pseudogenes on chromosome 12. Mutations in this gene have been observed in patients with the hair disease monilethrix. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]
Gene Name: Keratin 86
Chromosome: CHR12: 52695648 -52702947
Locus: 12q13.13
IPO8 Gene Summary
The importin-alpha/beta complex and the GTPase Ran mediate nuclear import of proteins with a classical nuclear localization signal. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of a class of approximately 20 potential Ran targets that share a sequence motif related to the Ran-binding site of importin-beta. This protein binds to the nuclear pore complex and, along with RanGTP and RANBP1, inhibits the GAP stimulation of the Ran GTPase. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]
Gene Name: Importin 8
Chromosome: CHR12: 30781914 -30848929
Locus: 12p11.21
