ICMT-ACOT7 Fusion FISH Probe
The ICMT-ACOT7 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ICMT and ACOT7 genes. The fusion of the ICMT and ACOT7 genes has been associated with Testicular Germ Cell Tumors. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ACOT7 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the acyl coenzyme family. The encoded protein hydrolyzes the CoA thioester of palmitoyl-CoA and other long-chain fatty acids. Decreased expression of this gene may be associated with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms with different subcellular locations have been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Acyl-CoA Thioesterase 7
Chromosome: CHR1: 6324331 -6453826
Locus: 1p36.31
ICMT Gene Summary
This gene encodes the third of three enzymes that posttranslationally modify isoprenylated C-terminal cysteine residues in certain proteins and target those proteins to the cell membrane. This enzyme localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum. Alternative splicing may result in other transcript variants, but the biological validity of those transcripts has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Isoprenylcysteine Carboxyl Methyltransferase
Chromosome: CHR1: 6281252 -6296044
Locus: 1p36.31
