HUWE1-GUF1 Fusion FISH Probe
The HUWE1-GUF1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the HUWE1 and GUF1 genes. The fusion of the HUWE1 and GUF1 genes has been associated with Head And Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma . These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

HUWE1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein containing a C-terminal HECT (E6AP type E3 ubiquitin protein ligase) domain that functions as an E3 ubiquitin ligase. The encoded protein is required for the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of the anti-apoptotic protein Mcl1 (myeloid cell leukemia sequence 1 (BCL2-related)). This protein also ubiquitinates the p53 tumor suppressor, core histones, and DNA polymerase beta. Mutations in this gene are associated with Turner type X-linked syndromic cognitive disability. Gene Name: HECT, UBA And WWE Domain Containing 1, E3 Ubiquitin Protein Ligase
Chromosome: CHRX: 53559062 -53713673
Locus: Xp11.22
GUF1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a GTPase that triggers back-translocation of the elongating ribosome during mitochondrial protein synthesis. The protein contains a highly conserved C-terminal domain not found in other GTPases that facilitates tRNA binding. The encoded protein is thought to prevent misincorporation of amino acids in stressful, suboptimal conditions. An allelic variant in this gene has been associated with early infantile epileptic encephalopathy-40. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2016]
Gene Name: GUF1 Homolog, GTPase
Chromosome: CHR4: 44680432 -44702697
Locus: 4p12
