HNRNPA2B1-DSP Fusion FISH Probe
The HNRNPA2B1-DSP Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the HNRNPA2B1 and DSP genes. The fusion of the HNRNPA2B1 and DSP genes has been associated with Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

DSP Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that anchors intermediate filaments to desmosomal plaques and forms an obligate component of functional desmosomes. Mutations in this gene are the cause of several cardiomyopathies and keratodermas, including skin fragility-woolly hair syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Gene Name: Desmoplakin
Chromosome: CHR6: 7541869 -7586946
Locus: 6p24.3
HNRNPA2B1 Gene Summary
This gene belongs to the A/B subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are RNA binding proteins and they complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and appear to influence pre-mRNA processing and other aspects of mRNA metabolism and transport. While all of the hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, some seem to shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The hnRNP proteins have distinct nucleic acid binding properties. The protein encoded by this gene has two repeats of quasi-RRM domains that bind to RNAs. This gene has been described to generate two alternatively spliced transcript variants which encode different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Heterogeneous Nuclear Ribonucleoprotein A2/B1
Chromosome: CHR7: 26229555 -26240413
Locus: 7p15.2
