HMGA2-GABRA3 Fusion FISH Probe
The HMGA2-GABRA3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the HMGA2 and GABRA3 genes. The fusion of the HMGA2 and GABRA3 genes has been associated with Skin Cutaneous Melanoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

GABRA3 Gene Summary
GABA is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian brain where it acts at GABA-A receptors, which are ligand-gated chloride channels. Chloride conductance of these channels can be modulated by agents such as benzodiazepines that bind to the GABA-A receptor. At least 16 distinct subunits of GABA-A receptors have been identified. Gene Name: Gamma-aminobutyric Acid Type A Receptor Alpha3 Subunit
Chromosome: CHRX: 151335633 -151619831
Locus: Xq28
HMGA2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the non-histone chromosomal high mobility group (HMG) protein family. HMG proteins function as architectural factors and are essential components of the enhancesome. This protein contains structural DNA-binding domains and may act as a transcriptional regulating factor. Identification of the deletion, amplification, and rearrangement of this gene that are associated with myxoid liposarcoma suggests a role in adipogenesis and mesenchymal differentiation. A gene knock out study of the mouse counterpart demonstrated that this gene is involved in diet-induced obesity. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: High Mobility Group AT-hook 2
Chromosome: CHR12: 66218239 -66360071
Locus: 12q14.3
