The HK2-ONECUT3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the HK2 and ONECUT3 genes. The fusion of the HK2 and ONECUT3 genes has been associated with Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma. Hexokinases phosphorylate glucose to produce glucose-6-phosphate, the first step in most glucose metabolism pathways. This gene encodes hexokinase 2, the predominant form found in skeletal muscle. It localizes to the outer membrane of mitochondria.
