HIRA-BCL2L13 Fusion FISH Probe
The HIRA-BCL2L13 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the HIRA and BCL2L13 genes. The fusion of the HIRA and BCL2L13 genes has been associated with Head And Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma . These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

HIRA Gene Summary
This gene encodes a histone chaperone that preferentially places the variant histone H3.3 in nucleosomes. Orthologs of this gene in yeast, flies, and plants are necessary for the formation of transcriptionally silent heterochomatin. This gene plays an important role in the formation of the senescence-associated heterochromatin foci. These foci likely mediate the irreversible cell cycle changes that occur in senescent cells. It is considered the primary candidate gene in some haploinsufficiency syndromes such as DiGeorge syndrome, and insufficient production of the gene may disrupt normal embryonic development. Gene Name: Histone Cell Cycle Regulator
Chromosome: CHR22: 19318223 -19419219
Locus: 22q11.21
BCL2L13 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a mitochondrially-localized protein with conserved B-cell lymphoma 2 homology motifs. Overexpression of the encoded protein results in apoptosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2012]
Gene Name: BCL2 Like 13
Chromosome: CHR22: 18121484 -18211989
