HDAC9-C8ORF34 Fusion FISH Probe
The HDAC9-C8ORF34 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the HDAC9 and C8ORF34 genes. The fusion of the HDAC9 and C8ORF34 genes has been associated with Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

HDAC9 Gene Summary
Histones play a critical role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression, and developmental events. Histone acetylation/deacetylation alters chromosome structure and affects transcription factor access to DNA. The protein encoded by this gene has sequence homology to members of the histone deacetylase family. This gene is orthologous to the Xenopus and mouse MITR genes. The MITR protein lacks the histone deacetylase catalytic domain. It represses MEF2 activity through recruitment of multicomponent corepressor complexes that include CtBP and HDACs. This encoded protein may play a role in hematopoiesis. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been described for this gene but the full-length nature of some of them has not been determined. Gene Name: Histone Deacetylase 9
Chromosome: CHR7: 18126571 -18708466
Locus: 7p21.1
C8orf34 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that is related to the cyclic AMP dependent protein kinase regulators. Naturally occurring mutations in this gene are associated with an increased risk for severe toxicities, such as diarrhea and neutropenia, in patients undergoing chemotherapeutic treatment.
