GTF2A1-POMT2 Fusion FISH Probe
The GTF2A1-POMT2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GTF2A1 and POMT2 genes. The fusion of the GTF2A1 and POMT2 genes has been associated with Adrenocortical Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

GTF2A1 Gene Summary
Accurate transcription initiation on TATA-containing class II genes involves the ordered assembly of RNA polymerase II (POLR2A; MIM 180660) and several general initiation factors (summarized by DeJong and Roeder, 1993 [PubMed 8224848]). One of these factors is TFIIA, which when purified from HeLa extracts consists of 35-, 19-, and 12-kD subunits.[supplied by OMIM, Jul 2010]
Gene Name: General Transcription Factor IIA Subunit 1
Chromosome: CHR14: 81646393 -81687575
Locus: 14q31.1
POMT2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is an O-mannosyltransferase that requires interaction with the product of the POMT1 gene for enzymatic function. The encoded protein is found in the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum. Defects in this gene are a cause of Walker-Warburg syndrome (WWS).[provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]
Gene Name: Protein O-mannosyltransferase 2
Chromosome: CHR14: 77741298 -77787225
Locus: 14q24.3
