GSN-HSPA8 Fusion FISH Probe
The GSN-HSPA8 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GSN and HSPA8 genes. The fusion of the GSN and HSPA8 genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

GSN Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene binds to the "plus" ends of actin monomers and filaments to prevent monomer exchange. The encoded calcium-regulated protein functions in both assembly and disassembly of actin filaments. Defects in this gene are a cause of familial amyloidosis Finnish type (FAF). Multiple transcript variants encoding several different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Gelsolin
Chromosome: CHR9: 124030379 -124095120
Locus: 9q33.2
HSPA8 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the heat shock protein 70 family, which contains both heat-inducible and constitutively expressed members. This protein belongs to the latter group, which are also referred to as heat-shock cognate proteins. It functions as a chaperone, and binds to nascent polypeptides to facilitate correct folding. It also functions as an ATPase in the disassembly of clathrin-coated vesicles during transport of membrane components through the cell. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Gene Name: Heat Shock Protein Family A (Hsp70) Member 8
Chromosome: CHR11: 122928199 -122932901
Locus: 11q24.1
