GPD2-R3HDM1 Fusion FISH Probe
The GPD2-R3HDM1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GPD2 and R3HDM1 genes. The fusion of the GPD2 and R3HDM1 genes has been associated with Brain Lower Grade Glioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

GPD2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene localizes to the inner mitochondrial membrane and catalyzes the conversion of glycerol-3-phosphate to dihydroxyacetone phosphate, using FAD as a cofactor. Along with GDP1, the encoded protein constitutes the glycerol phosphate shuttle, which reoxidizes NADH formed during glycolysis. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]
Gene Name: Glycerol-3-phosphate Dehydrogenase 2
Chromosome: CHR2: 157291964 -157442915
Locus: 2q24.1
R3HDM1 Gene Summary
The R3H Domain Containing 1 (R3HDM1) gene is located on chr2 :136289082-136482839 at 2q21.3.
