GNPAT-CAPN9 Fusion FISH Probe
The GNPAT-CAPN9 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the GNPAT and CAPN9 genes. The fusion of the GNPAT and CAPN9 genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

GNPAT Gene Summary
This gene encodes an enzyme located in the peroxisomal membrane which is essential to the synthesis of ether phospholipids. Mutations in this gene are associated with rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]
Gene Name: Glyceronephosphate O-acyltransferase
Chromosome: CHR1: 231376918 -231413719
Locus: 1q42.2
CAPN9 Gene Summary
Calpains are ubiquitous, well-conserved family of calcium-dependent, cysteine proteases. The calpain proteins are heterodimers consisting of an invariant small subunit and variable large subunits. The large subunit possesses a cysteine protease domain, and both subunits possess calcium-binding domains. Calpains have been implicated in neurodegenerative processes, as their activation can be triggered by calcium influx and oxidative stress. The protein encoded by this gene is expressed predominantly in stomach and small intestine and may have specialized functions in the digestive tract. This gene is thought to be associated with gastric cancer. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Calpain 9
Chromosome: CHR1: 230883160 -230937749
Locus: 1q42.2
